Biography and Interests

Jemma graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc (Hons.) in Psychology in 2005 and an MSc in Forensic Psychology in 2006. She then went on to work for Dr. Alasdair Forsyth at the Glasgow Centre for the Study of Violence as a research assistant on AERC funded projects investigating late night drinks marketing and disorder in public spaces and the environmental impact of off-license premises on residential neighbourhoods.

Jemma has previously worked at the unit as a fieldworker and team leader on the Gay Men’s Health survey, as a survey assistant on the Adolescent Lifestyles in Contemporary Europe study and as a research assistant for Dr. Anne Ellaway on a project investigating the feasibility of using Google Street View for neighbourhood assessments. She joined the Gender & Health team in June 2011 as a PhD student to investigate gendered identities and alcohol use in young adults. Jemma is supervised by Dr. Carol Emslie and Dr. Helen Sweeting.
