Biography and Interests

Jenny graduated in 2005 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Sports Science from The University of Edinburgh. In 2007 she went on to study a PhD in Health and Exercise Psychology at The University of Edinburgh. Her doctorate focused on ‘Understanding and Encouraging Cycle Commuting in a Workplace Setting’, which involved the development and evaluation of a behaviour change intervention aimed to promote cycling in Scottish workplaces. During her PhD she worked closely with Cycling Scotland and her intervention has since been adopted as part of their Cycle Friendly Employer Scheme.

In 2011, Jenny joined the Unit as a Career Development Fellow and works with Dr Shona Hilton on the Understandings and Uses of Public Health Research programme. Her current research involves translating and communicating about research evidence, and public understandings of science.
